Nancy Today: backstrap weaving 2 from my hammock (weaving 22)

I get comfortable and start weaving on my backstrap loom while lying in my hammock. What a wonderful way to lie in the sun and get some time by the campfire …

Nancy where did u order this contraption?……this is perfect for me since i’m just a beginner…i made one like this..but i used cardboard as a thread separator and a wooden dowels to tie the yarns…would like to get a finer thread separator, what do call that a ”heddle?”

We made them at mera. We used popsicle sticks and a piece of wood about 1″X 1/2″ on either ide of the ends of the popsicle sticks. Make the heddle/beater bar as wide as you want your fabric to be. Use toothpick sized skewers to make your reed/heddles if you can drill holes in them. Or you can make all that out of wire with a loop in the centers. Thread one into the hole, one beside it, all along your reed/ shed maker.
